We’re very excited to announce our next seminar! On September 20th at 10am we will be hosting Amanda Bruse for a three-hour No Gi Jiu-Jitsu seminar.
AMANDA BRUSE
Amanda Bruse is a Black Belt under Atos Head Coach André Galvão and is an accomplished coach and competitor in her own right. She has extensive experience coaching and competing at the highest levels of the sport, being a No Gi Pans Gold Medalist, No Gi Worlds Medalist, American Nationals Champion, and ADCC Trials and Combat Jiu-Jitsu competitor. Prof. Bruse is also a psychology major and integrates that work into her Jiu-Jitsu coaching to form a unique perspective and skillset in order to help others improve their game.
INCLUSIVITY MISSION
At Sanctuary Jiu-Jitsu, one of our missions is ensuring that women are well represented on our mats and in the larger sport. Jiu-Jitsu is powerful because it’s practiced in community, and that community should reflect people from all walks of life. Bringing in high-level women coaches, instructors, competitors, and academy owners is one way we live out this mission. Having Prof. Bruse here to share her Jiu-Jitsu is an incredible opportunity that aligns perfectly with this vision.
FRONT HEADLOCK
We like to have our seminar instructors teach the games, techniques, and positions they’ve had the most success with—or the most fun from! Prof. Bruse will be covering the intricacies of the Front Headlock position, namely the D’Arce and Anaconda Chokes. We’re especially excited for this topic, as the Front Headlock isn’t a major focus of our current curriculum and is an area where we can all grow.
COACHING & ANALYSIS
Many of us have been hearing Prof. Bruse’s name and following her success for years, from her wins at No Gi Worlds (Purple), No Gi Pans (Brown), and No Gi Pans (Black). Coach Karen first connected with her when she reached out for competition footage analysis and was blown away by Prof. Bruse’s thoughtful approach, detailed feedback, and actionable advice. Since then, we’ve been eager to bring her in for a seminar, and we’re thrilled it’s finally happening!
