THANKSGIVING SCHEDULE

We hope that you all have a joyous Thanksgiving filled with friends, family, and food! We will be CLOSED on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 27th. The following day, Friday, November 28th, we will have NO CLASSES but will be hosting an OPEN MAT from NOON – 2PM. Like all of our Open Mats, this will be open to all teams/affiliations and there’s no mat fee! We hope to see you all there!
Our regular schedule resumes on Saturday, November 29th with Kids’ Class at 9am and our regular weekly Open Mat at 10am.
THE 2025 RETURN

There are still spots left for upcoming seminars with Professor Caio Terra on December 6th and 7th! Saturday, December 6th will be in the Gi and will begin at 10am and Sunday, December 7th will be No Gi and will begin at noon. You can choose to attend both days or the individual days.
For Sanctuary members, registration for both days is $100 and single-day registration is $75. For non-members the cost will be $90/day or $125/both days.
We hope you can make it out to this, and please let us know if you’re financially unable to do so. We want to help!
NEW FALL/WINTER SCHEDULE!

NOON ADVANCED

We have opened up two more Advanced (Gi) classes in our schedule! Due to the popularity of the Mon/Wed/Fri noon classes, we have expanded into Tuesday and Thursday at noon! The classes have been growing and are very well received. This is a great way to spend your lunch break to learn some more advanced techniques and get some great training in. Remember that all are welcome to our Advanced classes, we do not restrict attendance based upon rank or skill.
OPEN GYM
In addition to our new non Advanced and Thursday evening Teen Class, we’ve opened up an Open Gym hour on Mon/Wed/Fri directly preceding the noon class at 11am. This is a great time to come in with friends and drill, study, roll, workout, hang out, whatever you want! This is not an Open Mat in the sense that it is for members only. However, all members are welcome to come and use the time as they see fit! A number of people are already taking advantage of this time and are loving it!
TEEN CLASS

Our Teen Class is off to a running start! It’s been great seeing everyone show up, focus, and put in the hard work required to excel in Jiu-Jitsu. We’re really looking forward to seeing you all grow and progress in this art!
This class is for people 12 – 16 years of age and will be a concise and focused class implementing aspects of the Fundamental and Advanced CTA curriculum, with an emphasis on dynamic systems of movement, control, and submission.
Teen Class class is be held every Thursday evening from 4:45pm – 5:30pm. If you’re interested in this class or have any questions, please reach out to us – we’d love to hear from you!
TOYS FOR TOTS
Our toy drive is well under way, and we have an entire bin and half filled up! Let’s rally together and get that second bin completely filled up!
This is a great way for us to give directly back to our community and exercise our generosity and charitable values! For families that have little, it means so much to the kids to receive gifts for Christmas and for the parents to be able to provide them.
Started in 1947, Toys for Tots is a national United States Marine Corps organization that works with local chapters to distribute toys and books to disadvantaged children in our community. In 2024 they were able to provide gifts for 13 million children nationwide and also distributed 3 million books to children via their Toys for Tots Literacy Program including 570,000 books to Title I funded schools. Last year the Madison chapter alone provided 30,000 toys to 15,000 children!
If you have any questions please reach out to us or visit the Toys for Tots website here.

CURRICULUM
This week we worked on keeping strong posture in top closed guard and standing up with confidence to advance our position and avoid sweeps and submissions. In No Gi we focused on passing the guard and learned the North South choke, also known as the snowman choke, which everyone picked up quickly.
T-SHIRT CONTEST!
We are excited to announce the results of our Team T-Shirt design contest. Thank you to everyone who created an entry. It was a lot of fun looking at them and seeing your team spirit. Congratulations to our third place winner Ezra, our second place winner Ava, and our first place winner Rachel. Fantastic work from all of you!
LEADERSHIP & PROMOTIONS
We also talked about leadership and how it starts with rising to an expectation before being asked, whether that means focusing and listening, lining up at the end of class, cleaning your room, or finishing homework.

Big congratulations to Viggo on earning his first yellow belt! Great job to Achilles, Gabe, River, and William for earning their next stripe. Keep putting in consistent effort and the Jiu Jitsu will follow!
